M & M Performance - Snowmobile Thefts Rising

Vernon RCMP have a warning for snowmobile owners -- make sure your sleds are locked up and out of sight.

RCMP Cpl., Henry Proce says there has been a rash of snowmobile thefts in the Vernon area over the past several weeks.

"During the night of December 30th, 10 snowmobiles were stolen," says Proce.

He says in one instance, five were stolen at the same time -- all on a trailer.

Proce says it appears thieves are scouting out homes and motels looking for snowmobiles left overnight on trailers or in the back of pick-ups.

"They will steal the trailer or the pick-up in order to get to the snowmobiles."

Proce says in most cases, the vehicles are recovered minus the snowmobiles.
